My wise old Dad taught me that ‘Grateful people are happy people’. This is so true! It sounds like a cliché but write down 3 things you are grateful for and you’ll instantly feel happier. Keep a gratitude box of single things you are grateful for and pick one out every time you are feeling fed up or disillusioned. Start each day listing things you are grateful for and end the day writing them down – guaranteed you’ll set off feeling positive and end your day feeling happier. It doesn’t have to be big – it could be – grateful to the lady who smiled at me on the tube, grateful for my morning coffee, grateful for nice new shoes, grateful to see a lovely sunrise if you got up at the crack of dawn to go to work (see you can turn a negative experience into an opportunity to be grateful too!). The next step is to tell others you are grateful for them and what it is about them that you are grateful for. You’d be amazed at how good it makes you feel (not to mention make their day).
